Hurricanes Approaching US

Submitted by ub on

A hurricane is a type of cyclone, which forms over tropical or subtropical waters. A tropical cyclone is a rotating low-pressure weather system that has organized thunderstorms. Tropical cyclones with maximum sustained surface winds of less than 39 miles per hour are called tropical depressions. Those with maximum sustained winds of 39 mph or higher are called tropical storms. When a storm's maximum winds reach 74 mph, it is called a hurricane. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutsshws.php

There are three possible hurricanes identified and they are not too far. Helene, Issac, and Florence, which is closest to the Eastern seaboard, with winds expected to reach 74 mph according to the National Hurrican Center. There are other weather patterns on the West coast, but none as threatening as Florence.
