Que Viva Puerto Rico... La Isla Bonita.

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade, now in its 57th year focused less on corporate sponsors and more on Puerto Rican heritage with all floats having a cultural theme, in response to criticism that past floats were too commercial.

New Yorkers once again showed their Puerto Rican pride by stepping out along Fifth Avenue with bells, whistles and colorful clothing today.

Organizers also increased student scholarship award money from $10,000 to $30,000 and a food drive to benefit needy families.
