The Fight Before Impeachment

Submitted by ub on

Twas the fight before Impeachment, when all through the US House, Senate, and WhiteHouse not a creature was stirring, except for the louse. The articles were hung by the Constitution with care, in hopes that SCOTUS Chief Justice soon would be there.

Impeachment occurred in 1800 and 1900 and it now appears that it will again happen in 2000.

It is the process by which a legislative body levels charges against POTUS.

Impeachment in The US House of Representatives does not in itself remove the official definitively from office; it is similar to an indictment in criminal law, and thus it is essentially the statement of charges against the sitting President.

Impeachment in the House is the first major step required to remove POTUS from office. Impeachment has been used infrequently in #USA. Only two American presidents, Andrew Johnson, and Bill Clinton have been impeached by the House of Representatives.

The US Senate is charged with the responsibility of a trial, in which the Supreme Court will participate. so we'll see how that one develops next year.

Nothing says innocence like going to great lengths to hide records and restrict key witnesses from testifying. History will record the vote members of #Congress cast today. Nearly 21 years after #HouseSpeaker #NewtGingrich #impeached #BillClinton, #NancyPelosi will vote to #impeach #DonaldTrump, tattooing an asterisk on the 45th president’s legacy.
