USA reached the knockout stage of consecutive World Cups for the first time, just not the way we wanted it.

Germany beat the US 1-0, following a drenched and soggy match, but USA held onto second place because Portugal defeated Ghana 2-1 in another game played simultaneously.

Many are running out of good excuses for missing work to watch the U.S. The World Cup.

USA needs to win today to not only play the next round, but also avoid a tougher team that emerges from Group H as their victor.

It may be Belgium, but Algeria, Russia or South Korea are all still in the race for this potential second seed.

Please, make sure you support our team and take a moment this afternoon to watch the game on TV in English on cable channel ESPN, or in Spanish on broadcast channel Univision.

The US Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that a police officer can not search the cell phones of criminal suspects upon arrest without first obtaining a search warrant.

The 9-0 vote ruled that smart phones and other electronic devices were not in the same category as wallets, briefcases, and vehicles, which are currently subject to limited initial examination by law enforcement.

Generally such searches are permitted if there is probable cause that a crime may have been committed, to ensure officers' safety and prevent destruction of evidence.

Many Trust Local News

According to GfK reserachers, who've completed a study for Hearst, TV viewers trust local news more than other media platforms, which makes local stations a favorable platform for advertisers.

Along with trust, local news stations have a high level of viewer engagement, which leads viewers to research and purchase products they see advertised during newscasts. Research finds local news is the most trusted platform across all demographics: total respondents, adults 24-54, adults 35-64 and adults 55+

New York State has been ranked 20th in it's beach water quality out of a total 30 states tested.

New York is the only state with both marine and Great Lakes coastlines. There are 127 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline, 231 miles of shore-front on Long Island Sound, 548 miles of Long Island bay-front, and 83 miles of shore-front on islands off the Long Island coast. In addition to these marine coastlines, there are more than 200 miles of freshwater shoreline on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Nearly all of the state's coastal beaches are on Atlantic waters. The coastal beach monitoring program in New York is administered by the New York State Department of Health. The New York City Department of Health posts closings and advisories for beaches in the New York City area. Additionally, beach-goers can learn about advisories and closings in the Great Lakes areas on the Beach-cast website.

US Representative Charles Rangel has once again shown those non believers, this time including Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, by winning renomination in yesterday's Democratic Primary in New York's 13th Congressional District.

Rangel won 47.4 percent of the vote, over his top opponent Adriano Espaillat, who won 43.6 percent. Espaillat was being supported by Diaz, but the voters saw through the political smoke screen and cleared the air inside the polls.
