A Know-Nothing Party?

Submitted by ub on

Will there be a dissolution or implosion of the GOP and does it relaunch into another political party that is no longer a national Cult?

Some Republican politicians are voicing their concern for the future of the grand old party.  The Republican Party name was

christened in an editorial written by New York newspaper magnate Horace Greeley. Greeley printed in June 1854: "We

should not care much whether those thus united against slavery were designated 'Whig,' 'Free Democrat' or something

else; though we think some simple name like 'Republican' would more fitly designate those who had united to restore the

Union to its true mission of champion and promulgator of Liberty rather than propagandist of slavery."

Will history repeat itself after this election by the emergence of the short-lived American 'Know-Nothing' Party?

The Republican party goes back to the issue of slavery. Prior to the mid-19th century, the major U.S. political parties had

been the Democratic party and the Whig party and before that, the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans, the latter of

whom split into Democratic/Whig factions in 1828. When the Whig party fell apart over slavery, that was the birth of the GOP.

Meanwhile, Why does @realDonaldTrump continue to hide from the news media? Is it's because he does not want to face

people as a loser because that’s what he really is? Finally, as is there was any doubt in the validity of GOP claims. ten

traitors, led by @tedcruz, are now demanding an “emergency ten-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states.”

Some Republicans are harshly condemning the efforts of fellow Republicans, calling it an egregious ploy" that "dangerously

threatens our Democratic Republic. This political madness needs to be stopped. Where’s the proof. Innocent till proven guilty.
