RIP BOB DOLE

Robert Joseph Dole was an American politician and attorney who represented Kansas in the US Senate from 1969 to 1996. Dole was the GOP Senate Leader during the final 11 years of his tenure, including three nonconsecutive years as Senate Majority Leader. 98-year old Bob Dole was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer earlier this year.

Earlier today, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden spoke on the phone with Elizabeth Dole on the passing of her late-husband Bob Dole, according to a White House pool report.

President Biden and the First Lady spoke on the phone to Senator Elizabeth Dole to express their sincere condolences at the passing of her husband, Senator Bob Dole. President Joe Biden reflected on his decades-long friendship with Dole, who he worked with on opposite sides of the Senate floor throughout their careers. In a statement Sunday afternoon, Biden described Dole as a man with “an unerring sense of integrity and honor.”

Bob Dole was also the Republican nominee in the 1996 U.S. Presidential election but lost the election to Bill Clinton. He was the Republican vice presidential nominee in the 1976 U.S. Presidential election but lost the election to Walter Mondale.
