Radioactive Russians

The name Russia is derived from Rus', a medieval state populated mostly by the East Slavs. However, this name became more prominent in the later history, and the country typically was called by its inhabitants "Русская Земля", which can be translated as "Russian Land" or "Land of Rus"

It is the largest country in the world by area, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area, and the ninth most populous, with over 144 million people, excluding Crimea. An accident causing a dangerous explosion has killed several Russians and there may be more to the story as it continues to develop. Do you remember the accident at Chernobyl?
