For Christians everywhere, Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday.

Many celebrate the first joy of the season, Jesus's triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, where he was welcomed by crowds worshiping him and laying down palm leaves before him.

It also marks the beginning of Holy Week, with the greatest tragedy and sorrow of the year.

LIPBONE REDDING RETURNS TO THE STARVING ARTIST

LIPBONE REDDING has once again performed at The Starving Artist Cafe on City Island. Tonight's solo performance included one of his latest compositions Esmeralda, which he told City Island Images will be included in his upcoming album release.

He also played a few standards, including his soulful and upbeat arrangement Tennessee Ernie Ford's favorite Sixteen Tons.

IRS DEADLINE

The IRS has received almost 100 million tax returns so far this year and expects to receive about 35 million more from procrastinators before their April 15 filing deadline.

About 12 million taxpayers will have requested extensions by the filing deadline, giving them an extra 6 months to file.

The fastest and easiest way to get the extra time is through the Free File link on IRS.gov. In a matter of minutes, anyone, regardless of income, can use this free service to electronically request an automatic tax-filing extension on Form 4868.

Reinvention Through the Everyday: A Bronx Council on the Arts poetry workshop with Bronx poet Bonafide Rojas. Bronx native and poet Bonafide Rojas will lead this workshop and combined book presentation for his latest title “RENOVATIO,” from Grand Concourse Press. He will discuss how reinvention and renovation have allowed him to not only survive, but to thrive under demanding and challenging circumstances. Bonafide will share his approaches and methods and will share the newest poems created by his alchemical assembling of language. NASDAQ NOSEDIVE?

The Nasdaq Composite Index sank 3.1 percent yesterday. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 2.1 percent and gold jumped 1 percent to $1,318.30.

Nasdaq fell the most since 2011 as technology selloff continues. Tech shares were lower this morning, as Internet and social media shares led by Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter dropped at the opening bell. Yahoo YHOO -0.87% shed 2.4% in early trades, while Facebook FB +0.27% gave up 2.3% and Twitter TWTR -1.40% slid nearly 4%.

The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP -0.18% fell 1% to 4,019, on track to end the week down more than 2%.

100 DAYS IN OFFICE

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has been in office for 100 days and some New Yorkers are not sure he is doing the best he can, while others wonder what happened to all the promises he made and all the talk about a tale of two cities.

He is the first Democratic mayor of America's largest city in a generation, and gave his report card speech at Cooper Union, the location where Abraham Lincoln announced his presidential campaign in 1860.

PENNSYLVANIA STABBINGS

22 were stabbed during a high school rampage near Pittsburgh today. The stabbings occurred outside Franklin Regional High School injuring 22 in Murrysville, Pennsylvania.

A 16-year-old student holding two knives went on a stabbing rampage in the hallways of the Pittsburgh-area high school early on Wednesday injuring over twenty people.

POT OF GOLD?

The existing marijuana laws on the books in Colorado and in Washington state may evolve into an $8 billion business by the year 2018., according to Marijuana Business Daily, which predicts half of the retail sales will represent recreational use and the other half will for medical use.

This forecast is five-times the increase over figures previously projected. These estimates are based on a US Justice Department hands-off approach, in states where legal use of marijuana is available for recreational, or through medical prescriptions.
