The big lie or große Lüge is a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the truth, used especially as a propaganda technique. The Nazi Germany expression was coined by Adolf Hitler when he dictated his 1925 book, Mein Kampf, to describe the use of a lie so colossal that no one would believe that someone could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.

The USA Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by Socialist minister Francis Bellamy and was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892 so the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.

The original version read:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

Even a well-intentioned USA intervention in Haiti, Cuba,  Venezuela, or anywhere else in the region will set off alarm bells across the Caribbean and throughout Latin America.
