Although some will move from shutdown villains to Congressional royalty, there is more than control of Congress at stake when US voters go to the polls today. Americans will vote in 36 gubernatorial races, they will elect thousands of state officials and have their say in about 140 statewide referendums. Voters who sit out some elections, but vote today could be playing a vital role by helping to keep our democracy on track.

Chris Christie is full of....

Submitted by ub on

If you were asked to finish this sentence, would you say leadership, hot air, himself, crap, or what?

NJ Governor Chris Christie is one of the most talked-about Republicans in the country on the eve of an election in which he isn't even on the ballot.

Is this déjà vu all over again? He did it back in 2012, when he bonded with President Obama while touring the hurricane-ravaged Jersey Shore.

DEMOCRACY FOR ALL

Submitted by ub on

A constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision and to restore the principle of one voice, one vote in our electoral process has been introduced.

This Democracy for All Amendment would reverse destructive Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United v. FEC, that have given corporations and the wealthiest donors the right to buy unlimited influence in our elections. Crowley joins Reps. Over 100 members of US Congress support the constitutional amendment.

Election Day is only ten weeks from today. Please Register To Vote NOW!

There’s one thing you can do right now without even leaving your computer: ask your friends to register, in case they have not done so.

You don’t need to convince them to become volunteers or contributors for any candidate, though that would be very nice just ask them to follow along and stay informed over the next ten weeks.

They can do that with all the usual online tools ... email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube. And they can sign up for any of those services on many websites.
