CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

Syria’s military and security forces have committed crimes against humanity during their crackdown on protesters, a United Nations-appointed probe said today, urging the Government to immediately end “gross” human rights violations and bring perpetrators to justice.

In August the UN Human Rights Council established the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria to investigate all alleged violations of international human rights law in the country since March, when the pro-democracy protests began.

SICK or NOT?

Here are some facts which you may already know: Employees aren't always telling the truth when they call the boss to say they're sick.

In fact, recent figures indicate 34% of U.S. IT workers admitted using an excuse when they called in sick during the previous year.

While most employers reported heightened absenteeism around the holidays, they said the prime season when IT employees call in sick is the first quarter:

January through March: 38%
April through June: 12%
July through September: 22%
October through December: 28%

HISTORIC ELECTIONS

Voting is underway in Egypt’s first parliamentary elections since the ouster nine month ago of longtime authoritarian leader Hosni Mubarak.

While Egypt holds it's historic elections, voters turn out in droves and this long awaited vote promises to be the fairest and cleanest election in Egypt's living history.

The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's largest and best organized group, along with other Islamists are expected to do well in the vote.

NY PRESS PROTESTS NYPD

The NYPD's media backlash has had it's consequences for the police department: Some 13 news organizations, including AP, ABC, CBS and NBC, have demanded the practice must stop.

Journalists working for The Associated Press and The Daily News were arrested while taking notes. Another radio reporter was arrested as she recorded several blocks from Zoccotti Park.
