Journalism vs Gossip

What is the difference between journalism and gossip, or news and views? One is fact-based and the other is someone, a group's personal opinion, or point of view.
So-called yellow journalism emphasizes sensational crime, gossip columns about celebrities and stars, views, opinions, and junk news. If it bleeds it leads.
While gossip and the rumor mill information becomes more popular as informal modes of communication, it has a way of influencing public opinion and individual actions.
