US is leaning on European and Arab allies to provide more troops and support for the war against the Islamic State group, hoping that the horror of the Paris attacks will compel them to get more deeply involved.
The administration sees as the beginnings of battlefield momentum in Iraq and Syria. It may also reflect a sense in the Pentagon that the campaign against the Islamic State group has advanced too slowly and requires more urgent and decisive military moves.

Gallup and Inside Higher Ed collaborated to measure employee engagement among college and university faculty members using Gallup’s employee engagement, or Q12, items. Inside Higher Ed supplemented these items with questions measuring satisfaction with certain aspects of jobs that are unique to faculty members. Some of the questions the study addresses include:
How do employee engagement levels compare among tenured versus nontenured faculty, part-time versus full-time faculty members, professors at private nonprofit versus public institutions, and by other demographic groups?

Article VI of the US Constitution states in part “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” Accordingly, President Obama has said that to have a religious test for Syrian refugees coming to the Unites States would be un-American. No one is proposing positions of high office for the refugees who our government defines as people fearing persecution on account of “race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion.” So religion is clearly a component of the refugee test.

More Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico from the U.S. than have migrated here since the end of the Great Recession, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of newly available government data from both countries.
The same data sources also show the overall flow of Mexican immigrants between the two countries is at its smallest since the 1990s, mostly due to a drop in the number of Mexican immigrants coming to the U.S.

Doug Flutie's parents passed away within an hour of each other after being married for 56 years. His father, Dick, had been ill and died of a heart attack in the hospital. Less than an hour later, Dick Flutie's wife, Joan, suddenly had a heart attack and also passed away.

The Leonid meteor shower, an annual mid-November treat, is set to peak today and tomorrow.
Estimates range from seeing a few meteors up to dozens per hour at the peak. As with most meteor showers, the best time to watch the Leonids is usually between midnight and dawn.
Those in the Southwest will likely have the best view, as clouds from a sprawling storm will likely obscure the show in much of the central and northwestern U.S., Much of the East Coast should have "fair" visibility.
