Read-a-Loud: The first Friday of every month will have a read-a-loud in the early afternoon. Listen to the librarian’s choices and feel free to bring your family’s favorite to share. Our Read-a-Loud program is slowly transitioning into more of a Toddler Time activity. Friday, May 2nd , 11AM to 11:30.

NYC Weekend Bridge and Street Closures

Multiple rolling street closures will be in effect citywide on Sunday, May 4th, 2014, from 7:15 AM to 6:45 PM, in support of the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, including sections of the FDR Drive (MN), Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BK, QN), and Verrazano-Narrows Bridge (SI). May 3rd is Press Freedom Day. Journalism and war reporting has become prohibitively dangerous, Dose of News wants to acknowledge the work of journalists all over the world.

Last year alone, 71 professional journalists died in the line of duty, and many thousands were physically or psychologically injured.

FLORIDA MAY DAY FLOODING

On this first day of May, folks in Pensacola, Florida are n ow feeling flooding foes after the area recorded its single rainiest day ever.

Almost 2 feet of rain fall in the past 24 hours caught hundreds off guard. Some people had to swim to get help.

A huge storm system that violently swept across Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Arkansas evolved into widespread flooding in the Florida Panhandle and Alabama Gulf Coast. That death toll from these storms have grown to 36 so far.

Today is National Honesty Day. The holiday traces its origins way back to the 1990s. It is about telling the truth. Be brave and share opinions, thoughts and perspectives that might otherwise go unsaid in order to be polite, but take care not to upset or offend others.

To clear the air on National Honesty Day. Roberto Soto hired, trained staff members and launched the 24 hour Cablevision station, known as News 12 The Bronx. A couple of boxing superstars are reportedly interested in purchasing Los Angeles Clippers.

Just hours following an announcement issued by NBA commissioner Adam Silver to ban owner Donald Sterling for life, he said he would urge league owners to force Sterling to sell the team.

De La Hoya and Mayweather, have both told reporters they are serious about making a bid for the LA Clippers.
