82 year old Mario Cuomo, former Governor of New York died at his home in New York City.
Mario Cuomo served for three terms from 1983-1994, and is the father of current New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who was just sworn in for his second term today in NYC.
The elder Cuomo was the son of Italian immigrants who often spoke of his humble beginnings and was a champion for liberal causes and social justice. First, the good news... New Year’s Day has no chance of precipitation for that time period. So folks won’t have to deal with snow or rain on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
Now for the bad news, it’s finally going to begin to feel like winter just in time for New Year’s Eve. The cold weather and low temps for the last night of 2014 calls for temperatures in the high teens. New Year’s Day will be sunny with a high in the low 30s.

As the United States of America prepares to ring in the new year, U.S. Census Bureau officials are projecting the population will be 320,090,857 on Jan. 1, 2015. This represents an increase of 2,334,187, or 0.73 percent, from New Year’s Day 2014, and 11,345,319, or 3.67 percent, since Census Day (April 1) 2010.
