There is way too much dis-courteousness, impoliteness, rudeness, surliness, and certainly not enough graciousness in our daily lives. We all should and must make an effort to rejuvenate and restore our personal civility and therefore have greater influence on global affairs.

On 11/11/11. make an effort to start loving yourself more, as well as your family and friends, your neighbors, your block, your neighborhood, your community, your country and OUR PLANET.

Citizens Committee is now accepting applications for "Love Your Block" grant program. Love Your Block is a special partnership between Citizens Committee and the City of New York that provides a unique opportunity for city residents to transform and beautify their neighborhoods.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has announced that monthly premiums for Medicare Part B, which covers doctors’ visits and outpatient care, will be lower than expected in 2012 as a result of the Affordable Care Act’s reforms to strengthen Medicare. In addition, seniors with Part B coverage will see lower deductibles, letting seniors keep more of their money.

Following the snowstorm, Temple Beth-El of City Island at 480 City Island Avenue hosted a free concert on Sunday afternoon performed by members of the Bardekova Ensemble.

They played a varied program from works of Ibert, Danzi, Rossini and Lefebvre to compositions by Scott Joplin transcribed for woodwind quintet, Richard Paratley, Flute, Ellen Bardekoff, Oboe, Donald Mokrynski, Clarinet, Carolyn Clark, Horn, and Amy Frasier, Bassoon.

Following the music performance, was a meet–the-artists reception afterwards.
