Expect the tropical storm ISAAC, which is moving over the Gulf of Mexico to have an impact at the gas pump, natural gas and thereby on US consumers wallets.

Energy companies are always looking for ways to raise prices and increase their profits, so they are now scrambling and evacuating workers from oil and natural gas platforms, cutting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.

As Isaac tracks west it becomes a bigger threat to the energy industry. The Gulf coast region accounts for more than 20 percent of US oil production and over 40 percent of refining.

Hurricane forecasters predict the storm will gradually intensify into a Category 2 Hurricane and strike Wednesday somewhere between Morgan City, La., and Destin, Fla.

Tropical storm Isaac lashed south Florida with strong winds and heavy rain after battering the Caribbean, and officials said it may strengthen into a full hurricane by midweek as it heads toward New Orleans.

Emergency management officials in Key West ordered visitors and residents to remain indoors as the storm moved through the area saying the only safe place is be is indoors.

On the seventh anniversary of Katrina, New Orleans residents have seen this horror film before and this is certainly not a re-run they wish to experience as all eyes are monitoring this storm.
