Stephen Joshua Sondheim was born in New York City. http://www.sondheim.com

Stephen Sondheim. Over years, he set an unsurpassed standard of brilliance and artistic integrity in the musical theater. His music, steeped in the history of the American stage, is also deeply informed by the classical tradition and the advances of modern concert music.

SJS's words, unequaled in their wit and virtuosity, have recorded a lifetime of profound, unblinking insight into the joys and sorrows of life and love.

He's one of our many favorites.

CITY OF WATER DAY- NYC

Submitted by ub on

New Yorkers should get up and get out on the water this weekend beginning right now!

City of water day is taking place all around us in many neighborhoods all over NYC.

Main events take place on Governors Island but the festival stretches all the way up to the Bronx, where some early risers paddled miles down the Bronx River to Soundview Park Saturday morning.
