C-SPAN HAS launched a StudentCam website, asking students in grades 6-12 to:

“Select any provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustrating why it’s important to you.”

Please help us spread the word by forwarding the site to any student, teacher, or parent who you think may be interested. It is an enriching learning experience for all of the students involved and once again there will be 75 cash prizes awarded, up to $50,000, for the winning students and faculty.

SB - El Condado De La Salsa (Salsa Borough) celebrates the genre that inspired its nickname when The Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Bronx Tourism Council will proudly host their first-ever Bronx Salsa Festival over the weekend of July 8 -10.

Concerts as well as several other activities around town are part of the fun.

The City Island Civic Association’s June meeting will be held on June 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center at 190 Fordham Street.

There are several items that we will be discussing this month in addition to our usual committee reports from our development, crime, traffic, and quality-of-life committees.

Updates will be given on the City Island camera project and the Belden Point reconstruction plans.
An update will be given regarding our efforts to oppose the design of the new City Island bridge.
