90 year old George Martin is dead. The brilliant music producer guided The Beatles' historic transformation from rowdy club act to musical and cultural icons. I recall speaking with him once and my initial impression was that he had great vision and was a lovely person.

Warmest Winter

The Boy, aka El Niño helped fuel a warm and wet winter for the United States. The average temperature for the contiguous U.S. during winter (December – February) was 4.6°F above the 20th century average, a new record, according to scientists from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information.

Alaska had its second warmest winter on record. The winter precipitation total for the contiguous U.S. was 1.26 inches above the 20th century average, ranking as the 12th wettest winter on record for the Lower 48 states and the wettest since 1997/1998.

All the world wide women who manage to be both mothers and successful professionals are Superhuman.
We are blessed to know and love them. Wives, daughters and so many good friends.

Millions of working women face difficult life circumstances. Some are single mothers; many struggle to find any job; others support husbands who cannot find jobs. Many cope with a work life in which good day care is either unavailable or very expensive; school schedules do not match work schedules; and schools themselves are failing to educate their children.

A series of storm systems will bring major impacts to the Western, Central, and Southern U.S this week. Heavy rainfall and severe weather are expected with localized rainfall amounts exceeding one foot will be possible. The heavy rainfall could lead to flooding of rivers and urban areas.

Tornadoes, lightning, floods, rip currents and early season heat - Spring is three months of danger that can imperil the unprepared. It roars in like a lion, rampaging across the United States throughout March, April and May. And there’s one hazard that can strike the coasts at any time: tsunamis.

94 year old Nancy Reagan has died. Nancy Davis Reagan was an actress and the wife of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States. She was the First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989.

Nancy Reagan made 11 movies, the last, "Hellcats of the Navy" (1956) opposite her husband.
She was born in New York City.

Cosmic Distance Record

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope was pressed to its limits by an international team of astronomers and they shattered the cosmic distance record by measuring the farthest galaxy ever seen in the universe.

This surprisingly bright infant galaxy, named GN-z11, is seen as it was 13.4 billion years in the past, just 400 million years after the Big Bang. GN-z11 is located in the direction of the constellation of Ursa Major.

The College Board has launched a revamped SAT test today, with promises to strengthen the test’s predictive validity and more closely reflect the skills that college students really need.

While many of the updates may actually make sense, others have left experts scratching their heads.
