This New York City snowman in Madison Square Park in Manhattan seen amid the snowy February storm is an early warning.
Residents living in the northeast will need to break out the snow boots and shovels once again this week as a winter storm is fixing, as they say in Texas, which got its unfair share of the stuff, to dump up to a foot more than initially predicted, according to forecasters. The region has seen far more of the white snow than it typically does by this point in the winter months.
A major winter storm will impact the Southeast U.S. today bringing with it significant icing and heavy snowfall. This system will track into the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast U.S. Thursday into Friday, producing similar impacts. Temperatures will still remain 20 to 35 degrees below normal throughout the Plains, Mississippi Valley, and lower Great Lakes.
