NYC Council Member James Vacca will join the Bronx-Einstein Alliance for Tobacco-Free Health and Environmental Services (Bronx BREATHES) at Orchard Beach tomorrow an noon for the first ever “Bronx BREATHES Beach Reach,” to distribute smoking cessation literature and free nicotine patches and gum in order to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco.
According to Bronx BREATHES, the Bronx has the highest smoking rate in New York City and is a direct result of the cuts to tobacco control funding and the pervasive tobacco industry marketing that erodes the progress made in reducing youth and adult smoking.
