For two decades, Stand Up for Heroes has been more than a concert, it's been a promise kept. A promise that the men and women who carried the weight of war would not carry the weight of being forgotten. This fall, that promise turns twenty.
Bruce Springsteen will take the stage,a voice that has long sung for the working soldier, the weary heart, the ones who serve and the ones who wait for them at home. Jon Stewart and Hasan Minhaj will bring the laughter, because even in tribute, joy has its place. They'll be joined by The Resilient, Alex Warren, and Josh Johnson.
What started in 2007 as a single night, born from one man's survival, has become something far larger. Bob Woodruff, nearly killed while reporting from Iraq in 2006, turned his second chance into a mission, and that mission has since raised $117 million for injured veterans and the families who steady them.
"We thought it would just be a one-time concert," Woodruff has said. "But it's become one of the most meaningful nights of the year."
Over the years, this stage has held Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mayer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and so many others who showed up simply to say: we see you, we remember, we're grateful. This November, that chorus grows louder still. Tickets are available now.
