Forget about the West Village, Soho, Chelsea Rockefeller, or Lincoln Centers, the place for 'peace and quiet' is further uptown.

City Island - A Slice of New York City Paradise is snuggled up in the Northeasternmost point of NYC. Take the #6 Subway to the last stop

This is The Big Apple's most romantic place. I fell and got married here. Away from the urban grid of concrete numbered avenues and streets slowly dissipates into a tiny island off Manhattan Island.

Skyscrapers give way to bungalows and beach houses with gardens which, in the springtime, have blooms bursting. Independent shops are common and nearly every restaurant feels like one you wish to find out if it has a Michelin Star and a Resy waitlist in the thousands.

So for those visiting the idyllic nautical community whose boundaries are Pelham Bay and Long Island Sound where to eat and shop? You can’t stay—the neighborhood has no proper hotels. Below, are our favorite shops and restaurants in this New England-style fishing village. #ThinkCityIsland
