NEW YEAR IN JAPAN

Submitted by ub on

I heard from a gorgeous Japanese Journalist and shared memories with her about bringing my New Years Eve at Yokohama Harbor.

When I celebrated the new year in Yokohama Harbor, Japan years ago, it was eventful. It was safe and clean, and it had order. There were very few surprises. Trains were on time. When we went to a restaurant, the food that arrived was. delicious and exactly like it is pictured. The bakeries and food halls were immaculate. Shop workers were professional, had manners, and took their jobs seriously. There were no cell phones in sight, or even talking to their coworkers about personal things.

The airport, public transport, and the streets were spotless, especially in the suburban areas. One is unlikely to see weeds or stray rocks on the ground, let alone trash. I heard some people say that the silent trains have no life, but as someone who values peace, this suits me perfectly. I am attracted to Asian women.

It is an OCD paradise, a place built for introverts as much as extroverts. I don't know how Tokyo manages it, but despite being one of the busiest cities in the world, I have found a calmness unmatched anywhere else. Seeing a line of workers cleaning areas that are not dirty to begin with, shows a sense of pride, that every detail is important, and deserves attention, consideration, and respect.
