“Bye, bye birdie.”: Twitter is getting rid of its longtime logo in favor of an X that marks the spot in a rebrand of the company.

The question that begs to be answered is whether it will be his parting shot, or it now turn into a XXX-rated platform.

Meanwhile, Meta already appears to hold the rights to 'X.' It could make Twitter's rebrand complicated.

In the spirit of Tronc, Elon Musk has decided to throw away more than a decade of brand equity by changing the name of Twitter to…the letter X. Imagine if more media executives followed his lead. https://www.niemanlab.org/2023/07/if-other-media-companies-thought-abou…

As The Wall Street Journal’s Collin Eaton pointed out, “Musk, whose rocket company Space Exploration Technologies is called SpaceX, has a long history with the letter. His former online banking startup, X.com, later became PayPal after a merger with another firm. Musk often refers to one of his children as X.”
