Sometimes there is a subtle difference between reporting news and spewing views or between occurrences or propaganda.

Is this military operation Z, or control alt delete Z? That is the real question. Kiev says the Ukrainians hit Moskva with a missiles and sunk it. The first first version below is Communist China-controlled media spewing propaganda for Communist Russia-controlled media.

Russia’s most formidable warship, the Moskva, is no longer afloat. Did the ship sink after an accidental fire, as The Kremlin Defense Ministry maintains, or after being struck by missiles, as Ukraine has claimed.

Was it the Ukrainian military or the latest example of #Russian ineptitude? Moskva is sinking to the bottom of the sea and soon to become the yellow or black and blue submarine. Either way, the sinking of Russia's Black Sea flagship is a big embarrassment for Vladimir Putin and everyone in he Kremlin.

Analysis: What happened and why — an expert considers the facts and draws conclusions. Opinion: What I think of something. Put another way: News: Events happened. Analysis: Events that happened could/can be understood this way. Opinion: Here’s what I think about events that happened.

Let’s distinguish between news, opinion, and analysis. Knowing the difference is something most people find difficult at first. After they learn the difference though, it makes participating in the news a lot easier.

As in the New To News tutorial, we will simplify things to give you a working understanding — even though our points along the way will not be perfect.

News: Events happened.

Analysis: Events that happened can be understood this way.

Opinion: Here’s what I think about events that happened.

Propaganda: Being told to believe in a certain manner by trying to convince its readers into agreeing with the Authors views. Propaganda presents a biased point of view. Journalism is the presentation of news in an impartial and dispassionate manner.

  • Moskva, flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet 'seriously damaged' after a fire and explosions
  • Ukraine says ship was hit by cruise missiles, causing it to start sinking with hundreds of casualties
  • Experts say the ship was sailing within range of Ukrainian, and its missile defence systems were 'dated'
  • Russia admitted the ship is damaged but made no mention of an attack, saying the ship is still 'buoyant'

The next two are Reuters and The AP. These are the world's oldest news organizations, representing hundreds of objective newsgathering years of experience. Don't get me wrong, they make mistakes, but when they do, they immediately correct them.

Ukraine says it hit and badly damaged the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, and Moscow says its crew had to evacuate the Moskva due to fire without acknowledging an attack. If confirmed, the sinking of the cruiser would be a major blow to Russia. https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-zelenskyy-kyiv-black-sea-esto…
