CITY ISLAND CRIMES

Submitted by ub on

They say all news is local and oh boy, do we have some hyperlocal news to share with all of you clam diggers and mussel suckers.

The words clam digger and mussel sucker do not pop up every day, but City Islanders say they are well-known. One major debate is the correct definition of the terms.

City Island - A Slice of NYC Paradise - Are residents are in danger following a series of illegal activities all around us? However, this island still has NYC's lowest crime rate.

The NYPD provides overall citywide statistics, which are updated weekly. The reports can be viewed below. The department's advanced digital version can be viewed at CompStat 2.0.

The Promenade is located along the shoreline at the eastern end of Fordham Street behind the newest condos being built.

I enjoy walking there and strolling down Fordham then making a sharp right turn at the gated fence that leads to Hart Island Park.

Please, take a look the these two #CityImages and tell me what you notice missing. Hint an umbrella and a bench?

Also, in an unrelated case... There has been some suspicious activity around the neighborhood. Six NYPD officers raided the building at 190 Fordham Street and apparently had a search warrant, according to sources. We reached out to NYPD, but they blew us off, which sometimes means there’s an ongoing investigation. We should also add that cops were not looking for their suspect on the main floor, but this building has four. Finally, the condo association asked the courts to block the use of our 🎥 surveillance system, so they must be trying to protect someone on one of the other floors.

If anyone sees any suspicious activity in or around the island, or hoodlums walking or driving along Fordham Street they should call #NYPD #CrimeStoppers ASAP.
