In the present cultural practice of proclaimed pronouns in vogue, some of us may currently and correctly consider ourselves to be it.

As a young boy, I remember playing tag while I was learning to speak English and being told, "You're It"

Did you happen to see it girl on SNL? “Madame Web” star Sydney Sweeney made her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut. Taking the stage in a breathtaking all-white dress, the actress cracked up the crowd by poking fun at tabloid reports about her having an affair with Glenn Powell.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUpg5nWzrO0

While universities can foster discourse about inclusion, polarizing topics can lead to conflict on campus. How can colleges mitigate contention when controversial comments occur on campus?

For example, I am not he, him, his, I am it. I’ve loved horses all my life. My new employer’s mascot is the Maverick which is the chosen one for the university, The motto mentions my man Neptune, the god of horses and horsemanship, as well as a patron of horse racing and also my favorite local  Miami band, where I studied as an undergraduate student. The Mavericks are an American music band from Miami, Florida.  https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+mavericks and not to be confused with these who are it!  https://www.yardbarker.com/entertainment/articles/the_21_most_successfu…

This country rock band consists of Cuban-American Raul Malo, Paul Deakin, Eddie Perez, and Jerry Dale McFadden. Malo and Deakin founded the band in 1989 along with my Tocayo Robert Reynolds and Ben Peeler.

Therefore, 'They are' Singular Nonbinary...   While using the nonbinary they, we use the verb that sounds the most familiar. "They are" is still the correct choice when referring to a single person, rather than "they are."

However, whenever someone chooses pronouns they and them, it means that instead of referring to the person as he/him or she/her, you’re being asked to refer to the person as they/them.

Simple enough, right?  Well, yes, except that if you’re unfamiliar with the use, you might wonder what kind of a verb goes with that pronoun: is it “they are my friend”

The simple answer is that the most natural-sounding verb is the one to use. They always go with a plural verb, even when they are referring to a single person: “They are my friend.”

Mavericks are visionaries who want to achieve what's never been achieved before. They're not fans of the status quo and will shake things up. Mavericks tend to be innovative, influential, daring, and direct—with a remarkably high tolerance for taking chances.

Haverfield introduced Senate Bill 711, which instructed the state Board of Education and the Board of Regents (BOR) to begin planning for the development of a state university in Miami. An abandoned airfield is an unusual place for the birth of a university. But in the summer of 1969, founding FIU president Chuck Perry gathered three leaders who would help him create his vision. https://www.fiu.edu/about/history/index.html

Finally, a maverick is an animal, a horse or cattle, that does not carry a brand. It is a word also used to describe a person who acts free from constraints or organizational guidelines.

If this seems like a lot of bull to you, then so be it... And so it goes.
