China Unrest Increases

Submitted by ub on

Our sources behind the digital iron curtain are reporting an increasing amount of unrest inside The People's Republic of China.

Big demonstrations against the COVID restrictions. The People push back against the PRC police authorities.

The Chinese capital hit another record of daily cases. I like to think about this and all the mess that was there as a metaphor for China scrapping its Zero Covid Policy and for the chaos we have seen these days, but then after they took down every single tent we asked them: “are you guys leaving?”, “no, we are just moving a few hundred meters down the road”... And so it goes.

The anti-Covid protests in China were triggered by a deadly fire. The sign of music’s power is its absence of the following song in mainland China. “Do You Hear The People Sing?” has been censored on QQ Music, one of the country’s most popular music streaming services. Search for the song, and three results pop up, all saying that it cannot be played for copyright reasons. Search for the full “Les Misérables” album, and there are more than ten versions of it, minus that one song. On NetEase Music, another popular streaming service, censors appear to have been a little less zealous. Individual searches for “Do You Hear The People Sing?” yield no hits, but it still appears as a track on its various “Les Misérables” albums.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYb9sRLUDyM
