DAY ONE

Submitted by ub on

Will it become a time that turns out to be known as a Day Won, or will it perhaps be 1460 Days Lost by American registered voters?

Notice that Trump did not place his hand on a stack of two Bibles held for him while he also appeared to have his fingers crossed while he stated "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

There may be a time when his administration will be viewed as Lost moments for American voters, while referring to a period of political or electoral , loss during the next 1460 days. This refere to a presidential term of 4 years, or 1460 days, or it could be symbolic of something else, like lost opportunities for voter rights or democratic participation.

We are speculating about whether a future historical lens will view a certain period as one where voters or voting rights were undermined or neglected. That could relate to controversies like voter suppression, gerrymandering, or disillusionment with the political system, any of which could be seen as a “lost” time for democratic engagement.

Whether it will be known as a "day won" or "1460 days lost," how we frame certain events may change over time. History often reevaluates periods based on the outcomes that follow or shifts in public perspective. Donald Trump's presidency on American politics, particularly how it might be remembered in future history books.

Given the complexities of U.S. elections and political history, future generations might interpret the time during Trump's tenure or related events in various ways. Whether the years under Trump's presidency could eventually be viewed as a time when American voters were "lost," time will tell. Some might see it as a time of greater polarization, attacks on democratic norms, or issues like voter suppression and challenges to election legitimacy. Others might view his presidency as a moment when voters became more politically engaged or took a stronger stance on certain issues.

Our specific reference to "1460 days " would be a full presidential term of four years, which could be seen as either a "day won" or "day lost," depending on how history eventually interprets Trump's impact on U.S. Democracy.
