EPSTEIN UPDATES

Submitted by ub on

US Congress has issued several significant updates, during these last days of October 2026 and recently.

The main activity is coming from House Democrats investigating the completeness of the DOJ release, plus a bipartisan effort by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie to force further disclosure.

October 28 · Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California)

Demands answers about missing documents

Garcia, the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, responded to reporting that tens of thousands of documents—including Epstein financial records—and material described as classified were missing from the public release. He called for immediate answers from the DOJ. These are reported gaps, not yet a congressional finding that every missing document was unlawfully withheld.

October 26 · Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland)

A major report examining allegations involving Trump

Raskin released a Judiciary Democrats' staff report reviewing accounts from 11women, FBI records, survivor interviews and other documents. The report says five women accusedDonald Trump of rape or sexual assault in Epstein's company or presence, and calls for an independent special counsel.

Important caveat: These are allegations and conclusions presented in a report by committee Democrats, not a court ruling or a finding adopted by the full committee.Trump has denied wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

September 18 · Reps. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie

Push for another congressional vote

The bipartisan pair announced they had secured commitments for the 218 signatures needed to force another House vote on additional Epstein-file disclosures. Their proposed follow-up legislation would strengthen enforcement, including legal avenues to challenge unlawful withholding and redactions.

The announcement was about securing support for a procedural move, not confirmation that a new vote had already happened or that more files had been released as a result.

Presses DOJ over cooperation with other investigations

Raskin requested records explaining why the DOJ reportedly declined to share evidence with investigators in New Mexico and foreign jurisdictions pursuing Epstein-related cases. The department confirmed receipt of his letter and said the request was under review.

What has Congress accomplished?

The key distinction is between announcements, demands for records and completed government action.

  • New report: Published by House Judiciary Democrats on October 26.
  • Missing-records concerns: Publicly raised by House Oversight Democrats on October 28.
  • DOJ accountability: Requests for explanations and documents are underway, but the sources above do not establish that the DOJ has fully answered them.
  • Another disclosure vote: Khanna and Massie announced sufficient commitments in September; I couldn't verify a subsequent vote from the sources reviewed.

We also haven't verified a new bipartisan congressional finding or a newly enacted law in the last few days.

The most consequential immediate development is Garcia's October 28 response to the missing-records reporting. The next thing to watch is whether Congress obtains the un-redacted material, publishes verifiable evidence of improper withholding, or uses subpoenas and hearings to compel further disclosure.
