POTUS Franklin Delano Roosevelt's First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1933 “Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”: FDR

Phobophobia is an intense fear of being afraid. Some people might be terrified of the physical symptoms that come with fear, such as rapid breathing or dizziness. Others are scared of developing another phobic disorder. Some may need psychotherapy or medication as treatment.

The Four Fear Responses: Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fawn

  • The emotion of fear is a core part of the human experience. ...
  • The human experience of fear begins in the amygdala, the part of the brain that processes many of our emotions.

We are born with only two innate fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud sounds. A 1960 study evaluated depth perception among 6- to14-month-old infants, as well as young animals.

Fear of the unknown is universal, but it seems to take the form most commonly in three basic human fundamental fears: Fear of Death, Fear of Abandonment, or Fear of Failure.

  • Arachnophobia – Arachnophobia is possibly the most well-known of all phobias.
  • Ophidiophobia – Ophidiophobia is the fear of snakes.
  • Acrophobia – Acrophobia, or fear of heights, affects over 20 million people.
