FLYING TIGERS

The proverb—“Do not blame God for having created the tiger, but thank him for not giving it wings”—teaches the value of optimism and gratitud

Life contains dangers, difficulties, and imperfections (the “tiger”). A pessimistic person focuses on what is wrong and complains about it. An optimistic person recognizes that, despite the problems, things could be much worse (the tiger does not have wings).

Instead of dwelling on negatives, look for the positives that exist alongside them. Happiness often depends not on circumstances alone, but on how we choose to view them.

The story of the two salesmen highlights this idea:

  • The first salesman saw a country where nobody wore shoes and concluded there was no market.
  • The second saw the same situation and concluded there was a huge opportunity.

Both observed the same facts, but their attitudes led them to completely different conclusions.

The contrast between:

  • “Roses have thorns” (pessimism), and
  • “Thorns have roses” (optimism)

shows how perspective shapes our experience of life.

Cultivate gratitude, focus on opportunities rather than obstacles, and train yourself to see the bright side of situations. Optimism does not ignore problems; it recognizes them while also appreciating the good that remains
