For Pete's sake get the hell out of there. The phrase originated as a substitute for “for Christ's (or God's sake,” and other expressions.

This is what several Congressional Toppers said insisting he’s not qualified. This is an expression of frustration, exasperation or annoyance. It was popularly adopted while using a shortened form of the disciple St. Peter's name instead was considered less offensive.

There were plenty of references at todays hearing to God, Our Lord, and The Almighty, as if Christianity would be a new consideration within the Defense Department.

Pete’s online profile lists him Peter Brian Hegseth (/ˈhɛɡsɛθ/; born June 6, 1980) is an American television presenter, author, and former Army National Guard officer. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Hegseth to serve as United States secretary of defense in his second cabinet. What makes this guy qualified for one of the most difficult jobs on earth?

Mr. Austin was born in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in Thomasville, Georgia. He graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission in the Infantry. He holds a Master of Arts degree in counselor education from Auburn University, and a Master of Business Management from Webster University. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.
