There are many ways to improve quality of life, regardless of where someone lives, from pursuing new hobbies to creating a home that supports well-being.

Quality of life is closely tied to physical and emotional health. Regular exercise, even a daily walk, can improve mood, increase energy levels and reduce stress. Hands-on hobbies such as gardening, knitting, woodworking or painting also can support cognitive function, improve memory and increase concentration by encouraging people to slow down and focus on a single task.

At home, more people are seeking dedicated spaces to disconnect from technology and recharge. Quiet reading rooms without televisions, yoga studios and craft rooms have become increasingly popular as homeowners look for spaces that promote relaxation and mindfulness.

Home design also is evolving to support everyday wellness routines. Lap pools for regular swimming, cold plunge pools integrated into outdoor living areas, and primary bathrooms that open to private courtyards with outdoor showers, saunas or steam rooms are among the features incorporated into homes with health and longevity in mind.

Designing for wellness extends beyond luxury amenities. While saunas and cold plunge pools can support healthy routines, the broader goal is to create adaptable spaces that reflect how people live. Natural light, functional layouts, calming materials and spaces that encourage movement, rest and connection can contribute to a healthier home environment and, ultimately, a better quality of life.
