It’s also not easy to call out a liar especially if they’re your colleague, or friend even a close family member. I know this all too well. Republicans’ Faustian bargain of accepting the lies in return for power meant that truth, honesty, character, and integrity were no longer requirements for public service in the GOP. Not only Trump but plenty of them take advantage of the new rules. This is part of the Russian rulebook. They lie and cheat about everything. At the Olympics, the United Nations, on the battlefield... etc.
Gone are the days of campaign honesty or tearful admissions, resignations, and shame. Their lies are unfortunately here to stay.
The Republicans have a long list of liars, led by the con man to end all con artists, the former guy who has been impeached twice and is now an indicted criminal defendant with nearly 100 charges as the numbers continue rising and his prison sentence awaits. Meanwhile, his tired old LOCK HER UP chant comes back to bite his big fat ass. He lied about that also.
George Santos, who is also indicted. There is Marjorie Taylor Greene who has denied engaging in insurrection on January 6 despite texts and video proving otherwise. She’s also pushed baseless conspiracy theories about 9/11, school shootings, COVID-19 vaccines, California wildfires, and Democratic sex trafficking.
Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker was caught in numerous lies on the campaign trail and still won the Republican nomination — and more than 48% of the vote in his December runoff.
And countless Republican members of Congress, presidential hopefuls, and candidates for state offices, including governor, attorney general, and secretary of state continue to lie about the 2020 election.
Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is lying about her own failed election in 2022, claiming it was rigged by both Democrats and Republicans.
