GUITARISTS

Do you recall when you heard a guitar played by a gifted musician’s fingers do the strumming or picking that leaves one breathless?

I definitely can, and the following musicians' names vary from Segovia on Spanish to Hendrix on Electric to Chen on Acoustic GuZhen. I have enjoyed listening to them in person and also on their recordings.

While lyrics are essential, the music, melody, and notes are what make the songs attractive and intriguing to our brains.

We can say that the guitar is a string instrument with a fretted fingerboard, usually four or more strings, and is played either using fingertips, nails, or a plectrum. We need to add that a guitar can be acoustic or electric.

But in all cases, the guitar covers the midrange and high end of the audible spectrum.

The instrument can also hold both a backing and lead function.

As you can imagine, the definition has broadened, especially over thousands of years.

One of the features that make it difficult to define it is the number of strings, usually, from four to 21.

His underrated guitar playing influenced everyone from the Beatles to Nirvana – here's how Lead Belly used his 12-string skills to play his way out of prison

Huddie Ledbetter's magnetic musical talent got him an early release from a hellish Texas prison – yet his full impact on 20th century guitar playing is often overlooked

Music Soothes the Savage Beast This idiom is actually a misquote of a line from the play The Mourning Bride from the year 1697. The British poet William Congreve wrote this originally as music hath charms to soothe a savage breast.

There’s one reason the guitar is the most popular instrument in the world for musicians. When one thinks about classical, or music, it’s hard not to have iconic guitar solos pop in your head, or Spanish guitar music or the sound of strings playing Classical Chinese sounds you can almost hear the strings’ vibration of brilliant intensity. Whether they fingerpick like Les Paul or strum like Manitas de Plata, guitarists are nothing short of magical for creating the perfect mood.
