On Tuesday morning September 11, 2001, our lives were changed by Saudi terrorists. The previous weekend I was asked to help a friend and neighbor to show his young adult son a good time. I showed him around and the previous Sunday took him to Orchard Beach in The Bronx where my friend Ralph Paniagua was producing a salsa concert.
When we arrived, I received two backstage passes and turned them over to this young man who had recently arrived from Europe and wanted to have fun. I told him these were the keys to meeting a young mate, and let him be.
Needless to say, the young man was having too much fun with his newfound friend and forgot to call his parents to check in and say he was OKAY.
He was more than OK, he had met another party animal and they decided to spend a couple of days together. WoW!
His father became alarmed after not hearing from his son and blamed me. I told him not to worry and he decided to call the police. The cops told him he had to wait and therefore the next day, he was so angry he was not able to be at The World Trade Center the following morning, where his office was located. His son got lucky for a couple of days, and I think Alex, his father is still angry with me... The rest is his story.
