A Happy News Year to all who wish for it, and to the rest, good night. These are some reflective ideas about living life forward.

The meditation on mortality, legacy, and what truly matters. The urgency in these words is a wake-up call, but don't worry, it is not a collect call, and I won't reverse the charges.

As we move forward, study the differences between doing and giving, between accumulating and connecting, between the temporary and the enduring. A "Groundhog Day" reference may be particularly apt, and the thought of living repetitively, mechanically, never breaking through to something more meaningful.

There are Biblical passages available online that echo the same truth: our time is brief, our physical existence fragile as grass or the morning mist. But they also point toward something else, that while our bodies and achievements fade, relationships, love, and "what we give" might be what actually endures in the lives we touch and the people we grow.

The real question isn't just "How will I be remembered?" and "Am I fully present with the people in front of me right now?" Because legacy isn't just built in grand gestures, it's in the daily choice to see people rather than look past them, to give attention instead of just tasks. I love my children and grandkids, but what do they know and appreciate about me?

The search for clarity is at the heart. Stripping away the noise to see what's actually worth our limited days on this evolving planet.

Remember, the holiday season should be a time for kindness, joy, love, and peace on earth and goodwill towards everyone.

We’re signing off, but we’ll be back soon. Happy holidays and a healthy News year 2026.
