A Bed-and-breakfast, and wedding venue are planned for the former historic Coast Guard House on the Fort Pierce Inlet in Florida.

It's always wonderful news to learn about the plans for the historic Coast Guard House in Fort Pierce, Florida. The transformation into a bed-and-breakfast and wedding venue sounds like a wonderful idea that could breathe new life into the historic building and provide a unique experience for visitors and locals alike.

The partnership between Indian River State College and Audubon Development seems promising, especially in preserving and repurposing such a significant piece of local history. The addition of an event space and bed-and-breakfast could also contribute positively to the local tourism and hospitality sector.

It's also encouraging to hear about plans for maintenance and repair, ensuring that the building is preserved for future generations to enjoy. Overall, this development sounds like a win-win situation that combines historic preservation with economic revitalization.

St Lucie County offered additional details about a budding partnership between Indian River State College and Audubon Development, the developer of King's Landing, to bring fresh use to the historic Coast Guard House on South Hutchinson Island.

The building, once a Coast Guard station and later home to the IRSC Marine Science Center, has had an uncertain future since 2021, when the college evicted its longtime tenant, the nonprofit Ocean Research & Conservation Association.

Now, a plan would turn the 88-year-old structure into an event space and bed-and-breakfast. The old U. S. Coast Guard building and grounds at 1420 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce. The building, now owned by Indian River State College, is being scheduled for maintenance and repair.
