Local news, public affairs and information content are essential to the future of our American democratic system and way of life.

In the run-up to this year’s general election, POTUS Joe Biden is warning that American democracy is at stake. But when it comes to the democratic process of an entire nation, could the solution be local and grass roots involvement?

In an age of declining print media, losses of local newspapers and journalists being laid off - these actions are creating ‘news deserts’: areas bereft of local news. Take a look around and read your local paper or online platforms and ask yourself does this matter, or is local news just a collection of obituaries and classifieds? Especially when rolling news coverage can be found online?
