New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani joined The Doe Fund and local leaders to break ground on the Casanova Residence, a supportive and affordable housing development in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx.
The development will provide 96 supportive and affordable apartments with on-site services when completed.
City officials said the project is part of the Mamdani administration's efforts to address New York City's housing shortage. Through the administration's Block by Block housing plan and the recently adopted city budget, the city is investing $1 billion over the next two fiscal years to create and preserve supportive housing, a 60% increase from the previous two fiscal years, according to the administration.
