PROMENADE FACELIFT

My Tocayo Robert Moses was the most powerful NY public servant with impressive list of launches start-ups and new projects..

Ever since I moved to City Island A Slice of NYC Paradise I have been asking when the promenade would be updated and resurfaced.

Robert Moses’ legacy near my home on City Island is Orchard Beach. Truly is a gem in The Bronx, with its rich history and amenities that cater to families and individuals alike. Robert Moses was an American urban planner and public official who worked in the New York metropolitan area during the early to mid-20th century. Moses is regarded as one of the most powerful and influential people in the history of New York City and New York State

The promenade has so much potential to enhance the beach experience, so it is understandable and I was eager for updates. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with playgrounds and courts for sports makes it a great spot to unwind during the summer. Take time to enjoy the beach, especially with events happening throughout the summer. Now that the crowds have thinned out I decided to take a ride to the beach and check out progress.

Orchard Beach is The Bronx's sole public beach. It was proclaimed "The Riviera of New York" when it was created in the 1930s. The 115-acre, 1.1-mile-long beach contains a hexagonal-block promenade, a central pavilion, snack bars, food and souvenir carts, two playgrounds, two picnic areas, a large parking lot, and 26 courts for basketball, volleyball, and handball. Changing areas and showers are available.

Cool off this summer at Orchard Beach! Located at Pelham Bay Park, the Bronx’s sole public beach contains a promenade, central pavilion, snack bars, souvenir carts, two playgrounds, two picnic areas, and 26 courts for basketball, volleyball, and handball. The whole family is invited to swim, play, and relax in the sun. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

I took a walk to get a closer look, but security did not allow me to go any further. I did see that construction is underway, but not enough p[people working. Perhaps this is why these projects tend to spiral out of control as far as the budget is concerned.

When I traveled to Shanghai, a modern city much like NYC the construction crews worked 3 shits non-stop and were more successful in meeting completion dates.

Any any case, Orchard Beach is the perfect place to escape the heat crowds, and noise of city life.
