RELATIONS

Today, I'm reflecting on the complexity and fragility of relationships, especially in the context of our highly individualized lives.

The juxtaposition of the deep connection I share with my friend and the geographic distance that has grown between us highlights a poignant reality: Our connection is both incredibly precious and can be easily strained by distance.

Relationships can feel fragile because they’re built on mutual choices and commitments. Familial bonds, professional relationships, and Good Buddy friendships require ongoing effort and alignment of values, interests, and circumstances. As folks evolve and our paths diverge, maintaining that connection demands active participation and mutual effort.

In an era where personal freedom and individuality are highly valued, relationships become even more nuanced. We have the liberty to carve out unique paths for ourselves, which can lead to different priorities and life experiences. This freedom can make it challenging to stay synchronized with those whose lives are evolving in different directions. Yet, it’s this very freedom that allows friendships to be cherished. The fact that I continue to invest in a friendship despite these challenges underscores its significance.

The inherent fragility of friendships makes them all the more special. The choice to stay connected, to nurture the bond despite differences and distance, is what imbues the relationship with meaning. It’s a dynamic interplay of commitment and personal growth, reflecting both the value and the vulnerability of the connections we hold dear.

I must be getting old because some seem to be ready to retire. WTF - RETIRE???

So yes, relationships are delicate, but that delicacy is what makes them profoundly valuable. They are a testament to the effort we put into maintaining bonds with those who matter to us, despite the individual paths we may wish to walk on.

Remember that we fight, respect, include, encourage, need, and always stand by each other always and forever!
