Investigative journalist Arnold Diaz, whose “Shame On You” consumer series ran for more than 20 years, has died at 74.
I worked with Arnold at WPLG TV 10 Miami while training as a young student intern in Miami under the direction of Doctor Ken Tiven. Arnold Diaz was battling multiple myeloma.
Diaz retired in 2022 after a 50-year career in television journalism, during which he won 48 Emmy Awards.
One of the original television news consumer watchdogs, Diaz sent many scammers to jail with his reporting work. Diaz later worked for ABC’s 20/20, WNYW, and WPIX, where his segments were retitled “Shame, Shame, Shame.”
In 1995, Diaz was inducted into the National Academy of Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, given to those who have distinguished service in the broadcast industry for a minimum of 25 years.

Besides Diaz, the impressive roster of broadcast journalists who graduated from Tiven’s TV news boot camp included Steve Croft, Richard Schlesinger, Chuck Stewart and Bruce Bernstein aka The News Brothers, Steve Wassermann, and too many others to mention.
Diaz obtained his degree from Florida State University where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. Arnold later received his master's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
Arnold Diaz lived in Port Chester, New York, with his wife and three children. We offer our condolences to his family.
