The weather field is growing darker with the death of Dr. Frank. I worked at Newscnter 4 with Dr. Filed.

Joan Kaplan Field, died earlier this year. The couple were married for 75 years and had three children: son Storm and daughters Allison and Pamela. Storm and Allison followed in their father’s footsteps, becoming TV meteorologists. Survivors also include seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

I was a young news producer at WNBC TV with Dr. Frank and his daughter Allison Field when she was a reporter and later became an actress. Allison and I were assigned to report on the festivities surrounding the ball drop at NYC's Times Square but wound up scrambling to cover the Purto Rican FALN that set off five explosions on New Year's Eve in 1982 throughout New York City. That day, a bomb exploded in an NYPD police officer's face, who ended up needing facial and hip reconstruction surgery.
