RIP JIMMY BUFFETT

Submitted by ub on

James William Buffett was an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and businessman known for his "island escapism" lifestyle.

Wasting away was never an option for music’s 76-year-old King of cool and most enterprising businessman. On 2018’s Forbes Celebrity 100, Buffett was ranked 47th biggest moneymaker, with an estimated $51 million in earnings.

Buffett had not stopped touring since 1977 when came "Margaritaville." A laid-back anthem about escapism and life in the tropics, the song spent 22 weeks on the Billboard chart, peaking at number 8. It catapulted Jimmy to national fame and, nearly a decade later, inspired Jimmy to launch a laid-back business empire.

His Margaritaville Holdings reportedly included 70 restaurants, bars, hotels, and resorts and over 55 communities selling variations on the beach-bum lifestyle, bringing in between $1.5 billion and $2 billion annually.

Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett recorded hit songs including "Margaritaville" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohDqjRGqpIU

On a personal note, my late mother’s name was Margarita, and although I'm allergic to Parrot feathers,  I was born on the beautiful Caribbean island of CUBA and live on another - City Island - A Slice of NYC Paradise until this day, so I have always admired the happy, relaxed and laidback ways.

However, I miss affordable ticket prices to see my favorite band performing. Those were the days when attending concerts didn't cost an arm and a leg. I have decided to keep all my limbs as long as possible.
