SAFE SPACES

Submitted by ub on

An old pal of mine recently warned me of the massive footprint dangers that come along with journalism and daily blogging.

As #CityImages increasingly receives a flood of post from Russian bots, which we continue to delete on a regular basis, we are cognizant of the fact that a data trail a person leaves on the internet is linked to their identity and can compromise their privacy. Under certain circumstances, journalists therefore may need to stay anonymous to protect themselves and their sources. They cannot limit themselves to a single tool and must instead employ a combination of resources and behaviors in order to operate under the radar. Thanks to our webmaster who insisted we use Drupal for safety reasons.

One of the organizations that I follow posted the following and I have decided to share it with our group of readers.

#RSFsafetywebsite: Under certain circumstances, journalists may need to stay anonymous online to protect themselves and their sources. In this article, Reporters Without Borders #RSF breaks down tools they can use to browse the internet and communicate privately.
