STIFFS STUCK

Submitted by ub on

Two dozen stiffs were temporarily stuck on a refrigerated morgue truck on Fordham Street on City Island directly in from of the Nautical Museum.

According to the technician aboard, at about 7A this morning while most City Islanders were sleeping, a mobile refrigerator from the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner broke down and had to call for backup.

The cadavers were on their way to Hart Island for general graves burial. No funeral, no memorial services for the indigent of The Big Apple's five boroughs.

Bodies are typically kept at a temperature between 36°F and 39°F (2°C and 4°C). This temperature range slows decomposition, but it doesn't stop it.

Additionally, notice they're parked next to a fire hydrant and partially on a crosswalk while the engine was running for over 20 minutes, as forbidden by local ordinance.
